Joy-Desta Brandsma

Joy-Desta Brandsma has a masters degree in Public Health and 20 years experience in health promotion and prevention including health systems strengthening. Fifteen of those years have been in the non-profit humanitarian and community based development sector in Africa and Southeast Asia.

At the moment, Joy-Desta Brandsma is the Program Manager for Scaling Up Decentralized Education for Nurses and Midwives. Together with SolidarMed staff, she is focused on workforce development through multidisciplinary health professional education. Their work ensures that healthcare professionals have access to quality training and education in rural areas, incorporating essential components such as curriculum, training infrastructure, eLearning, diverse teaching methodologies, preceptorship, and clinical simulation.
